šŸ§ A Guide to Business Architecture Certification

Writer: TZRTZR

I wasn't always sure about my business skills and what it was that I was doing that I enjoyed so much when turning a business vision a reality.

It was only when I started working on business architectures, over 15 years ago, that I realized there was a unique space where both art šŸ–Œļøand science šŸ”¬ could meet to deliver impactful transformations. And that there was a way to do it that made sense to me.

Ā

Building enterprise-grade TOGAF and bespoke startup architectures requires time and discipline, but it also demands imagination and craft. Over the years, so much learning happens ā€œin the flow of workā€ that people rarely take the time to reflect on and formalize their knowledge šŸŽ“.

Ā

Not long ago, I decided to pursue a British Computer Society certification in Business Architecture. During my research, I discovered that there wasnā€™t much independent guidance available to help aspiring Business Architects and Analysts choose the right learning path šŸ¤”.

Ā

When I sought feedback on various certifications, I received mixed responses about their value, particularly regarding the lack of ā€˜real-worldā€™ examples in the training. That feedback aligned to my experience. My most recent insights into AI & Business Architecture have come from Dr. Raj Ramesh, who shares creative and engaging video explainers on his YouTube channel šŸŽ„Ā using practical examples.

Ā

Thereā€™s clearly still a long way to go in improving these certification-based learning experiences. However, the need for guidance and direction on which certification would be most useful remains.

Ā

Ā

Thatā€™s why I decided to create the Business Architecture Certification Guide. Itā€™s a straightforward, no-nonsense summary of the top 3 business architecture certifications available, with some advice on how to choose the one thatā€™s right for you. Itā€™s not a finished product as many of you will know there are other certifications available but itā€™s a start.

Ā

So, if you know anyone looking to advance their career as a Business Analyst or youā€™re looking to grow your skills, I encourage you to check it out and share it ā€” it might just reveal that unique space in your personal learning journey.
